Qi Zhang
Shanghai Conservatory
A pianist who studied in Europe, a piano teacher at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Affiliated Middle School, and a member of the Chinese Musicians Association. She was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Affiliated Primary School at a young age with excellent results and was directly promoted to the middle school with the highest score, exempt from the entrance examination. In 1993, Zhang Qi was admitted to the Belarusian State Academy of Music with outstanding performance, majoring in piano. She studied under the renowned piano educator Professor Lidmila Sergeevna Shelonentseva (who was awarded the National Education Medal by the President and is a national treasure artist of Belarus). In 2000, she graduated with the highest honors, earning a master's degree in piano performance. During her studies, she gained recognition and won several honors at prestigious competitions and artistic events, including the Moscow "Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition," the 1997 Hong Kong Return International Piano Competition, the Minsk International Piano Competition, and various events in Portugal, Spain, and other countries. She held solo concerts in many European cities and performed with local symphony orchestras in Belarus and Russia.
After returning to China, Zhang Qi became a piano teacher at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Affiliated Middle School, where she has trained numerous outstanding students, many of whom have won awards at international and national piano competitions. Her teaching has been recognized and praised by experts both domestically and internationally. She has performed excellently in important academic events at the conservatory and has received various honorary awards from the institution. Many of her graduates receive full scholarships each year to world-class music institutions such as the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, and New England Conservatory.
While dedicated to piano teaching, Zhang Qi is also active on stage, frequently invited to hold concerts and participate in piano concertos, chamber music recitals, and other performances. She was invited by Professor Pascai from the Birmingham Conservatory of Music in the UK to take part in various large-scale events. Her masterclasses are highly praised, and she has served as a judge in several major competitions.
