TIAN LU
Praised by the Miami Herald for "strong musical instincts and a flawless technique," pianist Tian Lu built an international reputation by winning top prizes in major international piano competitions, such as the Southern Missouri International Piano Competition, World International Piano Competition, Jaen International Piano Competition, Emil Gilels International Piano Competition in Odessa, Ukraine. Her specialty in Spanish repertoire have led her to perform in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Over the years, she has been invited to perform at Kennedy Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Madrid Concert Hall, Spain, Teresa Carreño Theater, Venezuela's National Art Performance Center, Odessa City Hall Ukraine, and Miami Lincoln Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Center, Thailand Mahidol Prince Concert Hall and other performances. She also performed and gave lectures in international institutions with her husband Yury Shadrin as duo pianists in famous institutions, such as Harvard University, Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Cleveland School of Music, UCSI University in Malaysia, Central Conservatory of Music, UPH University in Indonesia, Thailand Mahidol University, etc.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Ms. Lu has performed with the Miami Symphony Orchestra, Venezuela National Symphony Orchestra, Ukraine Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra, Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Chamber Music, Westchester Symphony Orchestra, The Oberlin Symphony Orchestra, tour with her husband Yury Shadrin as piano duo numerous times in Asia, the United States, Europe, and South America.
In addition to her performing career, Tian Lu is also a dedicated educator and has given masterclasses and workshops throughout Asia, inspiring and mentoring young musicians and helping to foster the next generation of musical talent in the region.
Ms. Lu completed her early education in the middle school attached to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. At the age of 16, she was admitted to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she received an Artist Diploma studying with Monique Duphil. She continued her education at the Peabody Institute, where she was mentored by Boris Slutsky and Leon Fleisher.
Ms. Lu is the co-artistic director of The Leon Fleisher Academy.
